- Black and White Mask Party

Nothing is what it seems
Pinch me am I dreaming!
It's a raid

Guests are required to wear black and white, Gothic black and white or full evening dress in black or white

On arrival at the mystery venue 33 Portland Place, the façade of the building is transformed into a frosty winter scene as snow falls from the roof top. Two traditional doormen in top hat and tails stand either side of the entrance.

When the guests enter the hallway, it is a riot of flashing bulbs and colour. Every guest feels like a celebrity as the walk along the red carpet. Paparazzi photographers are positioned behind rope barriers and snap pictures as people walk though. A glamorous female interviewer stands to one side, stopping and speaking to guests, these interviews are screened live on a huge screen.

In this excitable atmosphere, they are ushered through into the hallway which is rather cobwebbed and decrepit but it is beautifully decorated in hundreds of tiny fairy lights. However, as guests approach they need to be careful of the mischievous dwarves standing on tall pillars, or running up and down the stairs that pinch or poke them as they walk by. When they reach the Ballroom doors they are handed a Venetian mask. The doors swing open to reveal a stunning old ballroom, and giant portraits adorn the walls all slightly familiar as well as a giant clock spinning in double time.

What unfolds is a surreal scene, a party frozen in history; strange performing artists that seem locked in some weird dream sequence, all dressed in black and white moving around a black and white floor to the strains of a string quartet. The quartet who themselves, are dressed in black and white and even a bit dusty and cobwebbed but rather good looking and cool, playing strangely familiar sounds. We would use the Urban Soul Orchestra, as a young and funky group of musicians who put a completely different spin on the idea of a string quartet.

They are offered a black or white cocktail by sexy girls dressed in burlesque outfits. Small food items are passed around by contortionists and unusual bazaar performers. Two beautiful ballet dancers are performing Pointe work on podiums. A bar is available offering other drinks and champagne.

Plasma screens are around the room, dressed within units inspired by a “looking glass”. They are showing various interviews filmed on arrival but also pre-recorded scenes from look-alike celebrities. Top “celebrities” from music and film are shown apologising that they can't make the party and hope everyone has a fabulous time!!

At a point where all the guests are in the first ballroom, an announcement is made and the doors to the second ballroom open. Spinning in the doorway is a fabulous blindfolded rope act or contortionist, as the guests look through into the room they see surreal tableaux before them.

The room is completely cobwebbed, furniture is on the ceiling, and a giant banqueting table runs the length of the room. The table is a still-life of a forgotten party, completely covered in cobwebs, but also on the table is piled high with a sumptuous banquet, all very exotic and luxurious but substantial. They can sit at the table or just graze. The entertainment continues and the music moves into something a bit more modern but still very off the wall and left field.

At some point the party starts to switch, as a funky guy from another party arrives (he's sort of like the pied piper) and begins to lure a small proportion of the guest downstairs. The plasma screens change, this time the party upstairs can see their fellow guests partying below. The other guests are then encouraged to follow them…on the staircase it's a commotion and it sounds like another party is in full swing in the downstairs room, whistles blowing and funky music playing James Brown (Get on Up) Hendrix maybe. They find themselves in an acid coloured trippy surreal space, all day glow and psychedelic lava lamps and optical prints on the walls. Crazy afro wigs, sunglasses, scarves are handed out; flowers are painted onto peoples faces by bare footed hippy chicks. The music is playing and brightly coloured cocktails are being passed over head all giving a free spirited feel to this part of the party.

Then silence and the room is plunged into darkness, the music comes to a slow halt, day glow lights only and confusion! Then the wall starts to move, this could be a bit scary but mad. Lights come back… Dream Girls appear on stage dressed in silver lame outfits and their fabulous act follows.

At the end of the act, a special guest arrives…. a glamorous female MC (Alesha from Mystique to be confirmed). She causes a bit of a stir in the room as she enters and heads straight for Ric. She pulls out a mic and begins her rap, a specially composed piece for the night mentioning key players in Curzon Global partners. The plasma screens again show another party starting downstairs which lures everyone to explore the basement.

Sucked down into the Blue & White Bling basement, through soft tunnels they are lead into the bling party, a silver, blue and white warren of party rooms. Daddy Christmas is waiting on them as they arrive, sitting in his funky white throne with his two sexy elves draped around him. He is blinged up, with gold jewellery dripping from around his neck and fingers.

Top DJ spinning sounds, podium and pole dancers and lots of mirrored tiles. Just when guests think this is it for the evening a group of world class free style dancers arrive to perform their 10 minute hip hop, acrobatic routine. Full bar, and roaming space cadet tequila girls fuelling the party atmosphere. Giant slouchy bean bags are strewn around the chill out area. The party is in full swing.

Wind down could be a deli style bagel / pretzel stall, or platters of burgers & hotdogs, coffee and mugs of tea served in paper cups so people could take away with them or stay, re fuel and stay on till the bitter end!! We could use a proper silver street cart to serve, as if you have just left a party in New York and your out on the streets. You could even have a couple of New York cops arrive at the end to turn off the party, but end up dancing and picking up a bagel!!! It's a raid.
