Retail fixtures and fittings are in store pieces of furniture that accommodate all the product which a particular retailer needs to display, they enable the customer to see and select product relevant to them. Retail fixtures and fittings also allow the retailer to highlight particular products which need promoting; they can be low density or high density depending on stock levels.
At Elemental our bespoke retail fixtures and fittings are especially designed to neatly present merchandise / products in a clear and coordinated manner. The opposite would be a trestle table at a market or car boot sale where there is jumble, no clarity / visibility nor concern for neatness! Retail fixtures and fittings can comprise of hanging rails / hooks or shelves or a mixture. They can be high or low level, wall-mounted or freestanding (mid-floor)
Our Retail fixtures and fittings are made of various woods, metals, glass, fiberglass, or a mixture of materials / substrates. We can offer to design a fixtures from scratch or take a firm brief or technical specifications. We can produce made to measure built-in, wall-mounted retail fixtures or free-standing island units.
Examples of window displays with our retail fixtures and fittings can be seen at Harrods' foodhalls where we produced general shelving units as well as an independent concession (shop-in-shop) for Vom Fass. We produced mid-floor units from bendy-plywood in a high gloss sprayed finish in Harrods' womenswear department. Also in this same area we created minimalist, brass fixtures for Harrods International Designer collections. These consisted of wall-mounted shelving and freestanding hanging rails. For Hugo Boss' Sloane Squarestore, we designed a Jeans Bar which took its inspiration from an old English pub.
Clients we have completed retail fixtures for include: Harrods, Hugo Boss, House of Fraser
What are the current retail fixture trends?

“The trend is the very logical goal of ensuring that the product (especially for garments) is highly visible and not dominated by the furniture it is shown on. In other words minimal and unobtrusive retail fixtures allow the focus to be purely on the merchandise. At the other extreme there is a trend for bold, arty, unusual furniture which draws the eye and attention – demanding a closer look. Theatre and entertainment are key to the shopping experience especially to compete with online shopping; if the shopper is bothering to visit the store it has to be a pleasurable, entertaining leisure activity”
